The place of man is a
complex subject that is often used in almost all fields, including philosophy
and literature. Even religions based on this subject to solve the place
of human. For instance, according to the Christianity; there is a great chain.
For sure, the great chain of beings begins with the creators of the worlds,
God, follows with angels, humans, animals, plants, and minerals. The question is why are the humans in the
middle of the great chain?
Unfortunately, humans
cannot be compare with the God. Due to lack of skills of human such as the gift
of create, humans only can be slaves of God. Besides, God always associate with
the strongest, the biggest and the most excellent. Dissimilar to God, humans
can make mistakes and they can only be part of God’s own soul. That is why,
humans can feel emotions as love, passion, mercy etc. They come from God’s himself.
Angels or Angelic Beings
also are made by and from God. But unlike humans, they do not have physical
limits. Furthermore, they are the servants of God which gives them no right to
make mistake. Humans are also can be called the servants of God, but they are
more likely slave and does not have supernatural powers, for example taking
another person’s life and deliver to God, where it belongs, is a job for Angels.
There is no doubt,
humans are not better than angels while not worse than animals. There is a difference that apart humans from animal. According to Aristotle; ‘Humans are thinking animals.’.
